Introducing My Marathon Prep Team...

Marathon Training is going to be brutal...so to help get me through training in New England's cold winter, I've lined up my Canine Training Company, so I thought I would share them with you. Here they are:

Meet Ziva, the "hurry up and put your shoes on, or I'll bite your toes" 8-week old Pomeranian, I am currently fostering for the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

Meet Lou, the "put your hat and gloves on NOW because I have to pee" 8-week old pit bull mix, I am currently fostering for the ARL ---but I caved, so we are keeping him.

Meet Ike, the "I'm too old and broken to go running, but you better share your post-run snack with me" 10-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd mix, my family adopted from the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire 10 long years ago.

Meet Clover, the "YIPPEEEE! Mom's taking me running! Come on, let's run faster, what do you mean you're getting tired, it is just a hill, yay! puddles!" 4-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier - he's not a shelter dog...he came with the boyfriend...we love him anyway.

And to finish off my stellar team...

Meet Rue, the "I could run a marathon too if I wanted, but I don't want to show mom up because of how easy it would be for me" 1-and-a-half-year old Pekingese (sans tail) - my first "foster failure" from the ARL.

These are my five faithful canine companions that will be with me every step of the way, that is with the exception of Ziva, soon she'll be biting the toes of new family members!

You might notice that I don't have any cats on my team...I've had to outsource my feline support. I've found that my feline friends prefer to be alternates on my marathon prep team, they'll step up when needed, but prefer to watch from the sidelines, more like the comfort of their beds...more on them later!

I hope you've enjoyed meting my crew; they are quite the bunch! And I hope you've taken the time to donate to this great cause! My many thanks to all of you who have already done so!

A New Journey...20 weeks, 26.2 miles, 1 Great Cause

It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have been fortunate enough to receive a bib for the 2013 Boston Marathon! Not only do I get to take part in this fantastic tradition, I am running on behalf of an amazing organization that is near and dear to my heart:

Over the next 20 weeks, I will be training to run a distance that I have never run before, as well as raising money to support the ARL and all of its great programs.

And guess what?! You have a front row seat to it all! From the comfort of your home or work place (or cell phone while on the go), you will get the inside scoop on the progress of my training and where I stand on my fundraising goal; not to mention, an insider's view on the inner workings of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

I can't get across the finish line without your support! I hope you join me on this exciting new journey. 'Tis the season for GIVING! Help the homeless animals of Boston (and all of Massachusetts) today, and in gratitude, I will push myself to a place I never thought possible - The Boston Marathon Finish Line!

Zeus is showing his support! You can too!
